I agree with everything you say. My friends have become completely obsessed with anime and it’s annoying and stressful. We no longer go places or do things because the only things they want to do are watch anime, and go to anime festivals. Anime is sad and perverted and all the authors give a bad name to Japanese culture. Japan is an amazing country and me and five of my friends have been saving for ages, and we’re going to go to Japan after we’ve finished japanese GCSE, because one of my friends is japanese (not the ones who are obsessed with anime, as my japanese friend realizes it’s not the only thing people talk about in Japan.) All in all Japan is amazing, but anime is a sick, perverted part of it which shouldn’t have so much hype around it.

What is wrong with anime!? how do you know how other people feel… what if one day you too get addicted to something then someone says its disgusting… how would you feel? you guys who say anime is stupid are a bunch of weeny losers who have nothing else to do but complain about things that are great and incredibly perfect…I’ll admit that I am addicted to anime and it has affected me in more ways than one…I have even fallen for a bishounen character in hakuouki named Hijikata Toushizou… and because of him I become more inspired to got to school and study well… so what right do you have to discriminate anime…anime is much better than real life because it depicts the joys and fun you can have in life… anime characters are WAY more handsome/beautiful, WAY more cute, WAY more sexy or WAY more perfect than you are… so BACK OFF! LOSERS! you guys are just probably jealous of their WAY more perfect looks…and one more thing…. if you want a war against all otakus…then good luck facing 2/3 of the planet’s population genius. YEAH, face it… there are more OTAKUS than you think there are…and NO ONE will back out in a war against anime haters! YOU probably can’t even draw well can you?!

It’s not the anime that caused this retardation, it’s the obsession that caused it. Kind of like alcohol and gambling; In small quantities, it can bring fun and entertainment. However, when addiction kicks in, it becomes dangerous and ruins lives.

Okay yeah those things are whacked out and the baby thing is terrible. I do feel strongly about the baby thing since I used to be in daycare, and a two of the babies there had to be adopted because of things like that (only the anime was substituted with crack…poor babies…)

Anyway I still wouldn’t blame anime for it. It’s not like the people drawing and writing these things are specifically thinking “Let’s make this baby starve and see this pathetic man marry a hug pillow.” They were probably thinking “Let’s make a new story to entertain people and hopefully rake in some cash while we’re at it.”

Summary: Yeah. It’s really jacked up that these people did those things. But please blame them, not the anime.

i agree with some people that you may be too subjective on the value of japanese comics. they’re not always about a bunch of girls falling for a loser. “Death Note” and “20th Century Boys” for examples are quite sophisticated in my opinion. but even for the so-called pervert comic that aims to comfort ‘loser’ audiences, i can’t see why they’re noumenally bad. it functions like an adult movie, it is not meant to be sophisticated or deep.

general japanese publics look down on these perverts (otaku) too. but i think as long as the activity did not harm anyone, we should let people do whatever make them happy.

just some thoughts, i still enjoy reading most of your interesting articles.

There’s always 2 sides to everything a good and a bad, so it’s better if we go against badness rather than the thing.

I love anime and what i’ve seen is that anime greatly change people, the ones i know (including myself) have changed for the better.
I would rather deal with each anime series an individual entity.
Becoz naruto, one piece, dbz, bye blade, bleach r the animes i’ve seen and i think ur rant was not aimed at these anime.
I agree with the person who commented that, why not fight perversion itself?
